What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person?

Empathy, positivity, diversity, sense of humour and an understanding of the individual needs of the client.

Mother of two children, mature and retired woman with extensive experience in both mental health and learning difficulties.

I have an understanding of care planning and multi-disciplinary working with positive listening skills.

How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person?

My life long career has been spent working across the diverse caring support services, achieving both management status and a relevant degree qualification.

I’m also a qualified N V Q Assessor with both valuable mentoring and coaching experience.

What is it about PA work which appeals to you?

Although I retired a number of years ago, I still miss the interaction and satisfaction of achieving positive results when supporting individual to reach their personal goals.

PA work is rewarding and provides me with a real sense of purpose and being. Making a positive difference in the lives of others is important to me.

What are your hobbies/interests?

Tai Chai, singing in the rock choir, craft work and gardening.

I also love animals and have two cockapoos who both keep me active.
