Give details of your previous employment or experience which you think would help you to do this job. *: Currently working as a personal assistant through Dewis C.I.L supporting a physically disabled gentleman to access the community using my own car and previously to this I also worked as a personal assistant also through Dewis supporting a young boy with autism and anxiety to also access the community safely and provide companionship and some respite care for his mother. I also have completed a child safeguarding and manual handling course.
What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? *: I think it is important to have alot of understanding and patience. To remain calm in order to help them feel at ease. To be able to adapt and work on their own initiative. To be punctual, respectful and have a positive approach.
How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? *: I am very experienced at working with and supporting people with all types of mental and physical disabilities through my previous employments at Dewis and also domiciliary homecare. I understand the importance of being supportive but also promoting an individuals independence. I am not easily fazed and am able to remain composed in challenging situations in order to be able to diffuse them effectively.
What is it about PA work which appeals to you? *: The most appealing aspect is the satisfaction I get from knowing that I have truly helped someone and improving their quality of life. The shorter hours also suit me as I already work.
What are your hobbies/interests?: I enjoy spending time with my daughters and also love all animals.
