Give details of your previous employment or experience which you think would help you to do this job. *: I have been working for a care home in llwycoed for 10 months, Caring for people with a vary of different needs, mostly wheelchair users but other mobility areas also. Within this area of work I helped residents (not just elderly) conducted day to day activities like washing/dressing/ and days out to see family members.
What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? *: Empathy not sympathy- to try to understand to the best of your ability the difficulties that accompany the disability rather than feeling sorry for the individual. Patience- to understand that different people take different timing to conduct and activity whether be due to preference or physical ability. Caring- to experience levels of concern for your client and show that concern through listening and taking onboard their feelings/ emotions. Relationship- establishment of a professional relationship with the client without presenting yourself as cold and distant, it’s healthy to become friends Aslong as the prime focus is the well-being of the client.
How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? *: By offering support there for the individual to take and not assuming they need help. Establishment of what care support is require before hand would help significantly but all whilst also promoting independence.
What is it about PA work which appeals to you? *: The fact that I can positively contribute to someone’s life bring me joy. Helping in any way whether being the smallest of tasks is important to me.
What are your hobbies/interests?: To pass time I usually like to read or take my dogs for long walks. I enjoy watching the occasional episode of crime solving dramas also but would rather get out of the house with my pets.
