Please read the Job Description carefully before providing information in this Section of the Application Form. Give details of your previous employment or experience which you think would help you to do this job

I am currently working as a Personal Assistant, I have been working for the same individual for seven years.
Through the years I have gained confidence within my PA role, I am currently assisting with all household tasks. I also prepare the occasional cup of tea or cold drink as requested by the family.

What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person?

Ensuring maximum individuality, I like to know that the individual has made a decision for themselves with me assisting with the options. For example when asking if they’d like a drink, providing the options of cold or hot, coffee or tea, water or squash.
Being polite, punctual and confident.
Professional mannerisms and arriving in the correct clothing.

How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person?

By maximising a persons independence by taking someone out to a cafe or shop that has the disabled access so they are not left out, ensuring they are able to engage with staff members and being at the side encase of any difficulty - this is ensuring they have someone who can speak for them if needed and required. Also making that person feel confident in the knowledge they have a PA with them.

What is it about PA work which appeals to you?

I like assisting and helping, being able to share my knowledge and have knowledge passed onto me.
I like coming home in the knowledge I have helped during my day.
Getting to know an individual as we’re all different, ensuring they have someone they can rely on.

What are your hobbies/interests?

I enjoy going to the hairdressers and a night out with my partner.
I enjoy taking my caravan to different areas on the weekends if not working.
