I worked Domiciliary Care with Radis for just over 6 months. I helped people maintain their independence in their own homes by providing support with day to day living and personal care. I also help care for an elderly family friend helping him with shopping, cooking, appointments and day to day living e.g. activities.

What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person?

I think the qualities that are important are, punctually, reliability, responsible, patient being sociable and positive attitude towards disability.

How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person?

I could contribute towards the needs and independence of a disabled person by providing physical assistance where necessary, cleaning, personal hygiene and driving. I can support someone to carry out tasks they may not be able to do alone, providing emotional support and companionship, but helping have choice. I can also make sure they are safe and monitor their health and wellbeing.

What is it about PA work which appeals to you?

I enjoy helping others and getting out and about socialising. I like challenging myself by trying new things. I think that PA work would give me an opportunity to enjoy a job that is rewarding and valuable to the client. I also enjoy being able to work directly with the client and their families.

What are your hobbies/interests?

I enjoyed socialising, watching crime programmes. I enjoy getting out and about, going for meals. I like animals, enjoy walking my dogs, spending quality family time, being active with my children.

I can work Monday day, Wednesday day, Thursday evening, Friday day and Sat day. I am able to work from 8:30am onwards as I have a young child in school.
