I have always worked supporting and caring for disabled people and people with learning difficulties.
I am currently working with Nightingales Nursing Agency, supporting people in their own homes to live independently I also spent one evening a week through Dewis CIL supporting a young adult with autism out to an activity of his choice . Going to the cinema, bowling or going for a meal.
I've also worked for Cartrefi Cymru supporting adults to live in the community, supporting them to make choices , enabling them to become more independent.
My first job through Dewis CIL was caring for a person with senile dementia.
I first starting working in care in Dan y Bryn , Cheshire Homes , caring for adults with learning disabilities .
I have also attended training courses to help me gain more understanding and knowledge. These are
Manual Handling, First Aid , Protection of Vulnerable Adults and Safe Guarding of children

What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person?

The important qualities when working as a PA are .understanding the needs of the individual, supporting you to make decisions , giving you choices and helping you to live your life with dignity and respect. Maintaining confidentiality at all times, giving the family privacy in their own home

How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person?

I have good communication and listening skills and
I can offer support and assist with making choices . Accompanying you when going out and supporting you to live independently helping you to enjoy life and support you in activities you enjoy taking part in .

What is it about PA work which appeals to you?

I enjoy supporting and caring for people , hoping that i can make a difference and make their life better, helping them to gain more independents and enable them to do the activities they enjoy doing, I am patient and understanding and enjoy making people happy .

What are your hobbies/interests?

My hobbies are spending time with family and friends, walking with my two dogs in the countryside or down the beach .
