Please read the Job Description carefully before providing information in this Section of the Application Form. Give details of your previous employment or experience which you think would help you to do this job

I'm a mum of 3 children aged 15, 11 and 10 all in full time education. My eldest son has been diagnosed with Asperger's, dyspraxia and a social disorder. It first became apparent at the age of 3 years old that not all was as it should be (for want of a better word) Through learning to both accept and understand my sons condition it has given me a great awareness of childhood issues/conditions etc. I'm very aware that each child is an individual and is very unique and I would love to get the opportunity to develop my knowledge and skills when looking after other peoples children.

What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person?

Confidentiality is of uttermost importance when working as a PA as its a very personal role, looking after children and building a rapor with family members alike. Being trustworthy and honest is crucial to the role also. Patience and understanding is very important, learning to recognise triggers and methods to deal with the child.

How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person?

Given the opportunity I would love to build a rapor with the child, build their confidence in social settings as well as their independence. Encouragement and gentle persuasion skills I had to master with my 3 children especially my eldest boy. I'm a young at heart, active and energetic person who would love to make a difference to somebody else's life, even if only in a small way.

What is it about PA work which appeals to you?

I enjoy the flexibility and daily activities that this role offers. I believe being a PA is a unique role, where trust and friendship develops over time.

What are your hobbies/interests?

I enjoy the outdoors, going on mountain walks and exploring what's out there to be found. I enjoy listening to music and going to the cinemas. Family time is important to me so days out is a must. I'm open minded and willing to try new things.
