Please read the Job Description carefully before providing information in this Section of the Application Form. Give details of your previous employment or experience which you think would help you to do this job

I have previously working in schools such as Ysgol Hen Felin and MaesGwyn special school. This has provided me with experience of working with children with a variety of additional physical and emotional needs. I have worked closely with children and young adults who can sometimes display challenging behaviour, this enables to be to come adaptable to situations I’m in and enables me to act fast in situations. I’ve worked closely with children and young adults with ASD, OCD, developmental delay, behavioural difficulties and Down syndrome . I feel that from working in the schools states above I’ve gathered rounded experience of working with children with a variety of additional needs and ages which would be very beneficial to this job. I was put to work in the schools stated above through agency and I found this has made me become a fast learner as I can be in different classes everyday where I need to pick routines up quickly.

What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person?

I think i would need to be approachable and easy to talk to, adaptable as I could be working with a range of people with different needs. Also, trustworthy and reliable! I would need to be able to use my intuition if a situation arises that I hadn’t dealt with before.

How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person?

Firstly, I would put the needs of the person I would be working with above anything else, to ensure safety and ensure that the person is content and happy. I would also ensure that I am assisting the person in any way needed, whether it be through day to day activities (if the person was older) or if it was a child then by helping them become independent in their own way and giving them experiences that can develop their independence at their own pace. I understand that the needs will differ to every person I possibly work with and also the level of independence the person has will offer so I think I will contribute by being as adaptable as possible with good communication with the person I’m working with the figure out what they need from me to than put plans into place and help.

What is it about PA work which appeals to you?

I’m a people person and couldn’t think of a better job that I will also enjoy. From working in Ysgol Hen Felin and Maesgwyn i realised how much I loved it there so I would want to carry on doing similar work where i can help people, be supportive and enjoy the job I'm doing.

What are your hobbies/interests?

I enjoy being in the company of others, and this could be anyone as I enjoy talking to people and socialising. This could be going for a walk or on days out.
