Give details of your previous employment or experience which you think would help you to do this job. *: Hafod Care January 2008 – June 2015 Mental Health Tenancy Support Worker Job responsibilities: • Supporting individuals who have various mental health issues within a supported environment. • Encouraging individuals through a personal support plan and risk assessment. • Supporting individuals to develop their own independent living skills to enable each person to move on and live independently. I also undertook a secondment for 6 months as Floating Support Worker where I worked with vulnerable adults as well as children. I also worked for Opportunity Housing Trust and Life-ways community Care supporting vulnerable adults and individuals who required extra help. May 2004-June 2015 I am a non judge mental person, who aims to go the extra mile for someone. I understand that each and everyone of us has different needs and most importantly are individuals. I could offer my peoples centred approach. I am trustworthy, empathetic, discreet. I am also a great problem solver. I have an NVQ Level 3 in advice and Guidance. I have covered vast areas of training while I was working in support. I would like to think that I could engage with my client to help them live as independent life as possible. I would not patronise anyone, and respect all cultures, ethnicity, religions, and genders. I also have a B/A honours in the creative industries/photography.
What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? *: A friendly, outgoing, effective and capable communicator, with strong customer service skills and someone who does their utmost to put clients at ease. Possessing 37 years’ experience of customer related services and the ability to work equally well independently or as part of a team. An enthusiastic, energetic, self-motivated and confident person who possesses a positive work ethic and can-do attitude. Believes in utilising a problem solving ethos and able adapt quickly and provide solutions to problems as they arise. Possessing life experience, a creative thinker and someone who will go the extra mile to reach desired goals. Looking to combine all of these skills to make a difference to people lives and make a positive contribution to any prospective employer.

How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? *: By listening, contributing, understanding specific needs. Identify risks to the person. Supporting/assisting where the clients needs are personal to them. This could be shopping, writing lists, personal care and general care we do for ourselves. Also it is imperative to remain dignified. A sense of humour can also go a long way, specially when trying to problem solve certain concerns. A caring compassionate aptitude is vital.

What is it about PA work which appeals to you? *: Helping a person achieve what they need to make their every day living easier. Remaining an active part of the community. Everyone of us is equally important as the other as disability doesnt mean that you possess any less than any one else, Its about equality. I also feel PA appeals to me because empowering the person to be who they are.

What are your hobbies/interests?: I am a professional photographer. I love creativeness, art, music, writing, dance, fashion. I enjoy cinema, theatre ( when I can go) I love my grandchildren.
