What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? *: I believe that there are many qualities that are needed and are important when working with a disabled person. These include: Care, compassion, commitment, patience, good communication, listening and interpersonal skills, as well being friendly and respectful towards the person and others.
How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? *: I believe that through my friendly, calm and compassionate approach, I can effectively listen to and understand the person. Also, through my previous experiences and being an occupational therapist student, I am aware of the importance of promoting independence for all clients. As well as the importance of building a good rapport with the person and relevant others.
What is it about PA work which appeals to you? *: The PA work is close to what I enjoy doing, which is helping people to participate in everyday and meaningful occupations. The opportunity to work closely with clients, build a good rapport with them and take them out to do what they enjoy doing, sounds great. I also believe that this opportunity will showcase and further develop my skills and ability.
What are your hobbies/interests?: I enjoy a range of things such as: Spending time with my friends and family, singing, volunteering, drawing, cooking, playing games and taking part in range of activities.
