Give details of your previous employment or experience which you think would help you to do this job I was employed as a Support Worker for an Alzheimer's Society with younger people with early onset dementia. I have worked in care homes, done home care and worked for Opportunity Housing into people with disability. I have taken people put for lunch and coffees, cinema, theatre and to various classes.
What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? Understanding disability and the needs of the individual. To treat the person with a disability like an employer not as a patient. Confidentiality, independent living, philosophy, disability etiquette and person first language. Be able to assist a person with a disability with activities of daily living.
How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? By providing assistance required by the employer. To help the disabled person to live life the way they choose. By having good communication and listening skills. Commuting myself to supporting the person and being a friend. Providing dignity.
What is it about PA work which appeals to you? Spending time and getting to know the persons likes and dislikes. I would like to empower the person to enjoy life to the full as they would wish. I believe in everyone having the right to live as they wish.
What are your hobbies/interests? I love to go walking, to the gym, play scrabble, do crosswords, Sudoku etc. I love listening to music - especially 60's + 70's and country. I am willing to learn. I love singing but do not have a good voice.

I retired from my employment with the Alzheimer's Society at the end of January 2019. I now feel I want to do some part time work an feel I have more to offer.
