Give details of your previous employment or experience which you think would help you to do this job. (required): I have more than 20 years’ experience as a chef. I have recently completed a care training package, and am currently seeking work in this area. Fluent in Portuguese and English, I have excellent communication and interpersonal skills in both languages. 

 
What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? (required): Ability to help someone to feel comfortable, safe, and also as independent as he/she would like to be. Being caring and practical. Understanding and patience may be needed in certain instances. Being organised, but also adaptable and flexible in order to accommodate last minute changes of mind or plan. Respectful, including respect for confidentiality. 

 
How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): I am a very organised individual, who is also flexible and respectful. I would always strive to meet the needs of the person, including for them to be as independent as possible, while remaining safe. I have recently completed a care course, and have a good understanding of the various care needs of disabled people. I have worked professionally as a chef for more than 20 years, so have the ability to prepare tempting and nutritious meals. Working as a chef has also given me good customer service skills, and the ability to work quickly and under pressure. 

 
What is it about PA work which appeals to you? (required): I am drawn to PA work from wanting to help people. I enjoy cooking, and have loved working in kitchens, but now I feel that I want to build on those skills, and work more closely with people, including preparing individual meals for them, and sharing their stories. 

 
What are your hobbies/interests?: I enjoy running, cooking, drawing, and painting. I also really like animals, so would be happy to support someone with pets - looking after them/walking them, etc.
