I have relevant experience of care work in caring for a child for 12 years with disabilities, and also caring for an elderly disabled relative for most of my life. I was a registered carer for 12 years.

What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person?

To understand and assist in their daily requirements and provide care and a safe environment for them to progress in their daily living requirements. Providing care, support, understanding of their individual needs whilst treating them as a person.

How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person?

By understanding what their requirements are listening and then creating a care plan to fit their requirements.

What is it about PA work which appeals to you?

Having responsibility of looking after someone and organising peoples daily routines and sticking to their care plans.

What are your hobbies/interests?

I love reading, walking, seeing friends, voluntary work, going to keep fit classes, walking the dog.
