(required): I currently give music lessons to a student with learning difficulties and we get on very well - she always says she misses me if we have to skip a week of lessons. Im also very physically fit, having worked as a gardener for many years, and have good spatial awareness allowing me to assist others with ease. Ive also worked in a range of retail and hospitality jobs, giving me a range of transferrable skills, and I have consistently had positive feedback about my amiability and work ethic.

What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? (required): Understanding and being respectful of what someone is comfortable with. The ability to communicate clearly without being patronising. Knowing that each persons needs are different and may fluctuate, and being prepared to work with this in an empowering way.

How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): I am a practical problem solver with the ability to anticipate the needs of others. I also understand the importance of people receiving support on their own terms, rather than behaving as if I know best.

What is it about PA work which appeals to you? (required): I have a strong belief in the importance of autonomy, and so being employed directly by the person I am assisting strikes me as a respectful and empowering arrangement. I also understand the many ways that the world we live in is not built to accommodate everyone. Addressing this is something about which I am very passionate.

What are your hobbies/interests?: I am a multi-instrumentalist and love to play music and sing songs. I enjoy playing boardgames, especially co-op games and RPGs - Ive been playing Dungeons & Dragons for over 15 years. I also have a passion for nature and have spent the last two years studying Environmental Conservation.
