Title (required): Miss.
Town (required): Cardiff
I confirm that I have the right to work in the UK and am able to prove my eligibility status when required to do so. (required): Yes

Please read the Job Description carefully before providing information in this Section of the Application Form. Give details of your previous employment or experience which you think would help you to do this job. (required): I am currently employed as a part time shift lead for the CAV 24/7 NHS service at Cardiff Royal infirmary, which means I am in regular contact with vulnerable persons and patients, with a wide variety of healthcare needs. For this post I hold a valid DBS. I have also been previously working as a student veterinary nurse for Valley Vets, as well as currently a part time receptionist for the veterinary hospital. Both of these post have required me to be friendly and conversational with clients, as well as fulfilling caring tasks for patients such as cleaning, meal preparation, holistic therapies, and other such tasks.

What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? (required): Being patient, understanding, and caring. I believe it is important to let your service user lead the care they require or desire - unless there are severe circumstances which require otherwise. However primarily I believe as a career you are there for physical and emotional support, and in do so well you can lift someone’s spirit it’s and make their experience of disability less isolating.

How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): I am frequently complimented by my colleagues and clients for being friendly, bubbly and chatty. I firmly believe that conversation can completely shape someone’s experience of a service, and allowing a natural flow of friendly conversation puts people at ease, and makes their experience more rewarding. I am also a proud home cook, cooking all of my meals from scratch most days despite a busy diary. I believe in traditional home cooked meals to offer not only nutrition but mental substance and wellbeing.

What is it about PA work which appeals to you? (required): I have always enjoyed building and maintaining good relationships with my patients and clients, and think the one on one setting within someone’s home offers a unique working dynamic to nurture this so it flourishes. I am a big advocate for community work, and want to try my best to help those in need local to me.

What are your hobbies/interests?: In my personal life I oil paint and draw, recently exhibiting an oil paint portrait of my father in Penarths annual open group exhibition for artists (sept-Oct 2023). I’m not sure I’d call myself an artist, but I have also lead and taught community art workshops for both adults and youth to promote community engagement and creative skills. I find painting very relaxing, and have also always volunteered for museums when I can, I have a history for volunteering as an invigilator or arts educator for galleries and museums in London, Bristol and Cardiff. I am also a very keen gardener, having had allotments in the past I now am trying to work on my balcony garden. For research I enjoy walking and exploring various available gardens, and try my best to visit the annual royal Chelsea flower show if I can!
