I have cerebral palsy and have no verbal communication but I can understand you perfectly and I’m not deaf. My needs were almost certainly increase with time and I often use a wheelchair. I am passionate about shopping (what woman isn’t!) I need a PA who is very flexible as my needs will fluctuate and therefore the tasks involved will vary depending on how I feel on a day-to-day basis and moving forwards over a longer period of time. PURPOSE OF JOB I need help with my personal care and preparing meals on a batch cooking basis so that I can enjoy my own food. PLACE OF WORK I live in the Roath area of Cardiff. Travel away from normal place of work may be required on occasions. HOURS OF WORK The hours of work will be: Monday- 4 hours to be used. Tuesday- 11 am - 12 noon. Returning 6pm -7pm.Wednesday- 11 am -12 noon. Returning 6pm -7pm.Thursday- 11 am - 12 noon. Returning 6pm -7pm.Friday- 11 am - 12 noon. Returning 6pm -7pm. Additional hours will be required from time to time to cover holiday or sickness of other staff. This will be on weekdays with prior notice where possible. RATE OF PAY £9 per hour TASKS INVOLVED Assistance with personal care Assistance with domestic tasks Assistance with writing and correspondence Assisting me with leisure activities Communication with other 3rd parties on my behalf TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Because of my communication difficulties, an abundance of patience is required. Good sense of humour. Practical and methodical. Willing to learn about my impairment to aid with my long-term care. Able to handle me and my wheelchair safely. Good listener Calm disposition ABOUT THE JOB Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A probation period will be necessary in the first instance. Wages will be paid 4 weekly. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
