I need at least 2 people to work as a team supporting me for 40 hours a week. The hours don’t necessarily have to be split equally. Because of my constant tremors and I can often become tired. I need a lot of practical support and the job will suit people why good at organising things and solving problems. I used to love fishing and was very active travelling everywhere. I also have a visual impairment so I need things in large print. I enjoy reggae music and going to the cinema. I’m not comfortable in crowds. I want to build up my social life so if you have a car and driving licence that would be great. PURPOSE OF JOB It’s very important to me to get back into the community as well as having support with practical tasks, personal care and domestic support such as changing my bed which I need to do on a regular basis due to perspiration. PLACE OF WORK I live in the Grangetown area of Cardiff. The road links are good but parking is not that easy. HOURS OF WORK I need support 7 days a week spreading the 40 hours over the 7 days. When you apply for the post, please let me know your availability and the times you’re available to work. I can probably fit most days around school hours. RATE OF PAY £8.80 per hour. TASKS INVOLVED Assistance with personal care including showering. Changing beds. Helping me to keep the place tidy to ensure my safety due to my visual impairment. Preparing and cooking meals. Helping me to go out into community. Assisting me with practical tasks due to my visual impairment and tremors. Helping me to organise things. Assisting me in social situations with leisure activities to develop my interests. Assisting me with laundry and other associated tasks. TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Car owner with appropriate business insurance and driving licence. Good sense of humour who likes a good laugh. Patient. Honest and trustworthy. Practically minded with common sense and initiative. ABOUT THE JOB Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You may be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
