I have Mental Health problems and require support. I consider myself to be a pleasant person but I am vulnerable and require some gentle encouragement. This will assist me to build my confidence to develop the life skills to live independently in the community. PURPOSE OF THE JOB The main purpose of the personal assistant is to assist me to access activities in the community and on occasions provide longer support in order for my family to receive some respite. HOURS OF WORK 16 hours per week ideally for one PA. The successful applicant would be required to work flexibly and occasionally on weekends sometimes. 16 hours per week ideally for one PA. RATE OF PAY £9.30 per hour TASKS CAN INCLUDE Driving or accompanying me to and from social activities. Taking me to the local swimming pool. Occasional supervision of personal care. Assisting me to find ways to engage with activities in the community. Any other relevant duties. Shopping and cooking (with supervision). TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Female preferred due to the personal care and accompanying me in the female changing rooms in the local swimming baths. Somebody friendly, patient and sociable with a young outlook. A person who is compassionate and has an understanding of how my mental health affects me. Somebody who will treat me with dignity and respect. Car driver with access to their own vehicle or someone willing to explore travel options and routes. Someone with the confidence to give boundaries when required. Someone who is strong minded and patient with a sensible attitude. Experience desirable working with learning disabilities. ABOUT THE JOB Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four-weekly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. The post is subject to a satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer.
