JOB DESCRIPTION  

        Part-time Personal Assistant 

 

 

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF 

  

17-year-old boy living in Rhiwbina, Cardiff requires a personal assistant (ideally two) to support him to maximise his independence. 

 

He has Cerebral Palsy and is wheelchair dependant and would need a lot of assistance in and out of his chair so manual handling training would be required.  He is very chatty and sociable and would like someone to help him with personal care and getting ready in the mornings. 

Flexible hours are also available for social calls. 

 

 

HOURS OF WORK 

 

30 mins every morning, Mon- Fri (3.5 hours p/w) 

9.30am during school holidays  

8am during term time 

 

20 hours over the month for social calls to be used flexibly 

Usually one evening a week for 3-4 hours and every other weekend either a Saturday or Sunday for a maximum of 6 hours (days & times can be discussed with employer). 

 

 

RATES OF PAY 

 

£9.70 per hour

  • Support with personal care and dressing in the mornings. 
  • Support out in the community to activities

ABOUT THE JOB 

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period will be necessary in the first instance.  The wage will be paid four weekly and appropriate holiday pay given. 

The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority)
