JOB DESCRIPTION

Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a mature male living in the Pentwyn area of Cardiff. The purpose of the job is to allow me to stay as independent and comfortable in my home as much as possible. I am a happy and positive person who previously ran my own restaurant so I am very friendly and understanding and an approachable individual. I have quite a few health issues physically and mentally which has affected my daily living. I try to be as independent as possible but need assistance which will make my life easier.

PURPOSE OF JOB

To enable me to continue to be independent and comfortable as I possibly can be and stay in my own home and to support me with daily aspects of life.

PLACE OF WORK

In my home and out in the community at times.

HOURS OF WORK

To cover the other PA's sick or annual leave.

Hours can be shared between a number of personal assistants.

24 hours per week to be worked as

7 x 30 minutes each morning to assist with breakfast and support me get out of bed and into my wheelchair.

7 x 1.5 hours around lunch time to support with a shower, bed changing, dressing and undressing.

7 x 30 minutes tea time calls prepare a hot meal/snack and drink, place within reach of Mr Hussain.

7 x 30 minutes evening call, assist to get into bed, attach night bag, and prepare hot drink/snack

1 x 2 hour social call a week.

1 x 1 hour domestic call

RATE OF PAY

£9.60 PER HOUR

TASKS INVOLVED

  • Personal care this also includes shaving my facial hair and head.
  • Food and Drink Preparation and assistance
  • Domestic tasks
  • Dressing and undressing
  • Laundry
  • Keeping things clean and tidy as they are used.

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

I would like the person that I employ to be friendly, happy and positive as I don’t often see lots of people its nice to see someone is has a positive energy about them. The person I employ will have to have manual handling training and medication training. If you have done either or both of these and can provide me with the certificates then I am happy with this however If not training will be provided. Someone who is patient as due to my health condition’s I go at a slow pace.

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You may be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
