Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

A friendly placid 11 year old boy living in Heath, Cardiff with complex care needs. I have cerebral palsy, epilepsy and I am a quadriplegic, being fully reliant on my wheelchair for getting around. I am also nonverbal. I enjoy being outside as much as possible, e.g. going for trips to the Local Park. I am looking for a personal assistant who will understand my needs.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

  • Assist with moving and handling(training can be given)

  • Help me to develop my communicational and Social Skills.

  • To support me with meal times if required(via Peg)

  • Assist with Personal Care

  • Support me out in the community to do things I like.

HOURS OF WORK

4pm to 7pm in term time days to be discussed

10.00am to 1.00pm can be flexible in the school holidays to times and days

RATE OF PAY

£9.20 per hour

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

  • Supporting me with my personal care

  • Supporting me out in the community

  • Assisting me with meal preparation, eating and drinking via peg feeding (training provided)

  • Keeping me safe at all time

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

  • Someone who is mindful of my condition and how it affects me

  • Trained to administer Buckle midazolam (training can be provided if required) this will be emergency only

  • You will be prepared to undergo manual handling training which is compulsory

  • Someone who is patient

  • Someone who is flexible with their time

  • Someone who is reliable and won’t let me down

  • Car driver preferred must have business use(will consider non driver)

ABOUT THE JOB

Manual Handling training is required. Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four-weekly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay.
