Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a 41 year old disabled lady living in Llanishen with my husband and assistance dog. I am registered blind and I’m a full-time wheelchair user. I do voluntary work for Cardiff Institute for the Blind. “I have a wide range of interests including taking my dog for walks, most kinds of music, watching films and reading” I also like to go to the theatre.

 

 

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The purpose of the job is to enable me to live as independently as possible at home and in the community.

HOURS OF WORK

8-6, Thursday and Friday. There will also be occasional respite cover for my husband and holiday/sickness cover available

 

RATES OF PAY

£8.90 per hour weekdays.

£9.30 per hour weekends.

 

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

 

  • Personal care
  • Dressing and undressing
  • Moving and handling using a turning disc
  • Assistance with physio
  • Meals and preparation
  • Medication
  • Social outings, community activities
  • Shopping
  • Hospital appointments
  • Household Duties
  • Assistance with All Aspects of the care of my assistance dog, including grooming and walking
  • Any other reasonable task associated with this kind of employment

ABOUT THE JOB

This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four-weekly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check (DBS) and training may be required if identified by the employer.
