I am a happy and positive person who is friendly and easy going. I have Attaxia and I struggle with day to day tasks. I struggle with walking and I can sometimes have trouble with my speech and suffer with memory loss along with swallowing. I will always inform you of what I want/need at each call. I have 2 small dogs and tropical fish which are one of my many interests. There are many other things I enjoy doing. PURPOSE OF JOB The purpose of me having a personal assistant is to enable me to live at home and be as independent and comfortable as possible. PLACE OF WORK Supporting me in my home and out in the community. HOURS OF WORK There are 17.5 hours available per week; these will need to be worked as 3 calls per day and a 4 hour social call – Day and time to be discussed. Morning call – 30 minutes each morning between 8.45am and 9.45am. This will be to provide me with breakfast, coffee and put some washing in the machine. Lunch Call – 30 minutes each afternoon between 12pm to 1pm. This will be used to provide a small lunch and drink, put my washing in the dryer or any light household tasks. Tea/Evening call – 1 hour each evening between 5.30pm and 7pm, this will be to provide an evening meal, take bins out on dedicated days, check washing, companionship in time remaining and wash up. RATE OF PAY£9.70 per hour. TASKS INVOLVED Providing food and drink on each call.Companionship if there is time left over.Light domestic duties which include Laundry, taking the bins out, washing up and occasionally taking my 2 dogs for a short walk. There may be occasions when I may need support with showering but I do try doing this myself. TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED The type of person that I want to employ is someone who is positive and friendly. A good sense of humour and uses their initiative. Ideally I would like to employ someone who has experience in managing a home. Someone who is pro active and has basic common sense is important to me.A car driver/owner is essential. ABOUT THE JOBThe post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority). The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK before you start work. Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance.
