CDP364 Female Personal Assistant to Adult Quote ref: CDP364 on application form Apply now JOB DESCRIPTION Part-time Personal Assistants A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF Personal Assistants required for young woman with cerebral palsy in St Mellons area. The lady is a permanent wheelchair user and has no speech. She has excellent non verbal communication. 24 hour care is provided for this lady, who currently has a team of 3 carers working in various shift patterns hoping to become a team of 6. PURPOSE OF THE JOB Previous experience would be an advantage, but all training will be given. Successful applicants would initially be accompanied by an existing carer for a few weeks before being expected to work alone. Due to the very personal nature of this job, female applicants would be preferable. HOURS OF WORK Tuesday- 7am-6pm Friday- 9am-5pm Sunday- 10am-10pm If you are only available to work some of the hours please submit an application. RATE OF PAY Hourly rate of pay is £9.20 and the sleeping night is a flat rate of £62.64. Pay is 4 weekly by bank transfer. The rates of pay are set by the local council and are non negotiable. Annual leave is 5.6 weeks per year and there is no enhanced rate for bank holidays. There is also a pension scheme in place which you may choose to opt in or out of. TASKS CAN INCLUDE Supporting me with my personal care and dressing Assisting me with meal preparation, eating and drinking Assisting me with domestic cleaning TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Someone who is mindful of my condition and how it affects me. You will need to be reasonably fit and healthy, friendly, outgoing and adaptable. A good team player Applicants will need to have a clean driving license and be willing to drive a wheelchair adapted vehicle. ABOUT THE JOB The lady has a PEG feeding tube in her stomach. A pump system is used overnight to administer fluids, which you will need to learn how to use. Nurses call morning and evening to administer medication, however, you will need to be willing to occasionally do this for unexpected pain relief etc. You will be using a ceiling hoist for all transfers. Manual Handling training is required. Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four-weekly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay.
