CDP389 Personal Assistant to Child Quote ref: CDP389 on application form Apply Now JOB DESCRIPTION Personal Assistant GENERAL INFORMATION Personal assistant required to support a lovely 15 year old young lady with epilepsy and autism to access activities in the community and occasionally provide care in the home. Llandaff North area. She’s a happy, loving and determined young lady who knows her own mind but can also display challenging behaviour, mainly due to communication difficulties. She’s non verbal and profoundly deaf, and communicates with pictures, symbols and gestures. HOURS OF WORK Sunday 6 hours Additional hours flexible RATE OF PAY £10.20 per hour TASKS CAN INCLUDE Providing support to access activities in the community and occasionally provide care in the home. Typical activities include going for walks, swimming, going to the park, cycling at pedal power, bowling, trampoline park and shopping. The work will involve some aspects of personal care and administration of rescue medication in the rare event of a prolonged seizure. TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Caring, active, patient, enthusiastic Responsible, reliable, honest and trustworthy. Willingness to learn on the job and be part of a team is essential. Car driver with own car is essential for this position. ABOUT THE JOB Epilepsy training will be provided in order to be able to administer rescue medication. Additional training can be arranged if needed. Young lady requires 2:1 care so you will always work alongside another PA. She is a very complex young lady so previous experience of working with individuals with special needs would be ideal but not essential. Willingness to learn and get to know her are important. Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A probation period will be necessary in the first instance. Wages will be paid 4 weekly. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
