CDP437 Personal Assistant to Adult Quote ref: CDP437 on application form Apply here JOB DESCRIPTION Male Personal Assistant A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF I am a disabled man with a brain injury in my mid 40s living in the Splott area of Cardiff with my wife and 2 dogs. I like going for a walk and fishing, enjoying gardening and I like watching football. By going out for lunch to places I know well. I have a visual impairment. I have no protective reflexes and therefore can be prone to falling quite heavily, with poor balance. I’m only able to use one hand. Full training will be given within the post. PURPOSE OF JOB I need support to access the community and do “bloke things”. On rare occasions I may need help with personal care. PLACE OF WORK You will work closely with me to act at the community ensuring my safety and well-being whilst enabling me to have a good time. HOURS OF WORK I liked to have support on Thursdays in a block of 3 hours at times to be mutually agreed. There will be more hours available to cover other PA’s sickness and holiday. RATE OF PAY £9.15 per hour. TASKS INVOLVED Helping the access the community. Help with personal care on occasions. Keeping me safe. TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Essential criteria Male worker due to personal care. The post is subject to the equality act 2010. Car driver with full driving licence. Mileage will be paid. Quiet person with common sense who is down-to-earth. Flexible and able to cover hours on occasions when other colleagues on holiday or off sick. Desirable Criteria Trained in first aid ABOUT THE JOB Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You may be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
