CDP461 Personal Assistant to Child Quote ref: CDP461 on application form Apply now JOB DESCRIPTION Personal Assistant A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF I am 16 (just started sixth form) and love reading, Netflix, writing fiction, watching athletics and listening to music (such as New Hope Club and Camila Cabello). I have dystonia caused by a complex 1 mitochondrial disease; this means I have reduced mobility and control of muscles. I am an electric-wheelchair user, and my speech can be unclear. I can type, and use my phone and laptop a lot but it is quicker if someone types for me. For my A-Levels, I am taking English Literature, History, German and Chemistry (so if you’ve studied any of those it would be useful, but not essential). PURPOSE OF JOB I am looking for a PA to accompany me to town, coffee shops etc for shopping, chatting and help with homework and typing. Whilst out I need someone to feed me and hold drinks up (I use a straw). I need help to get my coat on and off, plus very rarely I may need to use facilities (I can explain how to help me if needed). If you’re a driver we can use my accessible vehicle, or otherwise catch a bus from near my house (or get a lift if it’s raining from Taxi of Dad!) PLACE OF WORK Variable (usually Cardiff city centre) HOURS OF WORK 5 hours per week (usually one evening in the week or one afternoon on the weekend) RATE OF PAY £9.35 per hour TASKS INVOLVED (see Purpose of Job above) TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Chatty Good sense of humour Flexibility A good level of English and spelling (for typing essays) Must like (or at least not hate!) Harry Potter and Netflix Willingness to undertake manual handling training if certificate not held ABOUT THE JOB Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You may be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you. Please Note: Dewis Centre for Independent Living is acting on behalf of a third party and will not be your employer or be liable for any issues arising out of your employment should you be offered employment.
