JOB DESCRIPTION 

Personal Assistant 

 

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF 

 

A personal assistant is required for a 12 year old young female in Rhiwbina, who is diagnosed with cerebral palsy and global development delay. She is non-verbal and unable to walk unaided but has a cheeky sense of humour.  

 

 

PURPOSE OF JOB 

The Service User is a very active child, and would like some support in socialising and accessing the community. The purpose of the role is for the personal assistant to take the Service User out into the community to help develop her social and other skills.       

 

 

 

PLACE OF WORK 

Out and about in the Community 

 

HOURS OF WORK 

10 hours a week. Normally 3 sessions per week: after school Monday, Tuesday and Thursday/Friday but flexibility is required.  

 

RATE OF PAY 

  

 

£9.15 hour 

 

 

 

 

 

 

TASKS INVOLVED 

 

Supervising the Service User at all times. 

Enabling the Service User to access social activities such as Brownies, Touch Therapy, trampolining, horse riding and Pedal Power. 

Ensuring that the Service User is safe at all times. 

Transporting the Service User to places in the community. 

Assisting the Service User to improve her confidence, physical skills and ability to deal with a variety of social situations. 

Personal care will also be required. 

 

 

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED 

 

Must have access to a vehicle and hold a full driving license. The use of your vehicle with be required for this role.   

Must be reliable  

Must be flexible  

Must be patient  

Experience in a similar role is desirable. Preferably assisting another non-verbal young person with challenging needs.  

 

ABOUT THE JOB 

 

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period will be necessary in the first instance.  The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living.  You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You may be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
