Part-time Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF 

  

I am a 25-year-old man living with my family in the Roath area of Cardiff. I have atypical autism and bipolar disorder. I am looking for a Personal Assistant to support me in activities in and out of the home.  

I am friendly with a good sense of humour but I need some support and encouragement to engage with people. I also need reassurance and friendship to help me from feeling too anxious when I am outside the home, as my anxieties can sometimes make me present with some challenging behaviours.  

My hobbies include listening to music, walking my dog and going out to the cinema. 

 

 

HOURS OF WORK 

 

34.5 hours per week. 

 

Monday and Friday days would be essential. Most of the hours would be during the school day and some of them would be after school. 

 

RATES OF PAY 

 

£9.80 per hour. 

 

TASKS INVOLVED 

 

  • Assistance in developing social skills
  • Encouraging social interaction
  • Helping with walking dog (small collie-spaniel mix)
  • Ensuring safety and supervision
  • Participating in activities in and out of the house

 

 

 

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED 

 

  • Reliable, committed and punctual 
  • Understanding of confidentiality and privacy 
  • Trustworthy and efficient 
  • Patient and friendly 
  • Experience preferably but not essential 
  • Car driver is essential 

 

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four weekly and appropriate holiday pay given.

The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).
