I was born and brought up in Ely in Cardiff, later moving to Llandaff North. Between the ages of 17 to 21 I worked as a trainee pharmacist in Boots, however, gave this up when I got married. I met my husband on a blind date and have been married for 53 years. I have three children and previously I loved to bake and do flower work for wedding cakes for friends. I enjoy being creative and arty. In the past I enjoyed reading and going to the opera with my husband. I do like watching the birds in the garden. PURPOSE OF THE JOB The main reason for this appointment is to assist and support me at home and for some respite for my family. Preferably someone local or a car driver due to short calls. However, I am on a bus route. HOURS OF WORK 10 hours per week available to start, potentially more hours available after trial period completed. There is some flexibility with shifts. RATE OF PAY £9.25 per hour TASKS CAN INCLUDE We are looking for someone who is reliable and punctual, alongside being a friendly, chatty, patient, trustworthy individual. The person will need to be Hoist trained and be confident in dealing with somebody with dementia. Tasks will include personal care in relation to washing, dressing and toileting. Meal preparation, medication and work alongside another PA/Carer. The requirement will also be accompanying me out in taxi transport for social and appointments at clinics. Some household duties in cleaning may be required. ABOUT THE JOB Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A probationary period of 6 months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four-weekly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay.
