DP1012 Personal Assistant Quote ref DP1012 on application form Apply Now JOB DESCRIPTION Personal Assistant A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF I am a 54 Year old man living on my own in the Pontypridd area of Rhondda Cynon Taff. I am a right leg amputee due to a blood clot. I have a prosthetic leg. I also have Epilepsy and mild learning difficulties which effect my communication and reading. My passion is rugby and I am a season ticket holder at Pontypridd RFC. I enjoy watching TV and my favourite programmes are sports, comedy’s and soaps. I enjoy walking and visiting places of interest. I also enjoy bingo and going to the cinema. I occasionally use a manual wheelchair when I am out and about. At these times I will require assistance with the wheelchair. I also have a small mobility scooter which can fit in a boot of a car. PURPOSE OF JOB To support me to access the community and encourage me to engage in social activities of my choice and to help keep my home clean and tidy. PLACE OF WORK At my home address and in the local community of Pontypridd HOURS OF WORK 10 hours per week RATE OF PAY £9.50 per hour plus mileage where applicable TASKS INVOLVED To accompany and support me on trips out in your car. To assist with my wheelchair/scooter when required. To promote confidence in accessing new and current activities To promote confidence, encouragement and support with walking with my prosthetic leg. Must be a driver with a full clean driving licence. Any other duties to be discussed and mutually agreed between yourself and your employer Domestic duties around my home Taking me to hospital appointments TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED A person who respects and understands the importance of my privacy and confidentiality of working in someone else’s home A person with a passion for rugby would be desirable Someone who is confident, mature and has patience A person who is dependable and arrives on time. A person with a friendly, easy-going manner Someone who is adaptable and flexible is essential Someone who could provide extra hours on occasions Someone who will be able to support me but not take over Able to work Independently and on their own initiative to previously agreed criteria Someone who is able to work to instruction Someone trustworthy, reliable and punctual Someone with a caring and responsible attitude Someone with Epilepsy training is an advantage. Be willing to undertake any training identified as relating to the post e.g. Manual Handling Course, Basic First Aid ABOUT THE JOB Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You may be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you. Thank you.
