I am a witty, friendly and caring person. My husband says I have a heart of gold. I enjoy crocheting and playing games on my phone. I am a double amputee and use a wheelchair. I have three dogs in my home who I love dearly. Both my husband and I are smokers. I am also asthmatic and diabetic. Recently my sight has declined. PURPOSE OF THE JOB The main purpose of the job is to take me out shopping in my local area. There may be other activities which I will want to become involved in on occasion and will require your support to do so. HOURS OF WORK 6 hours per week, either a Tuesday and/or Thursday morning, but this may change from time to time. RATES OF PAY £10.00 per hour TASKS CAN INCLUDE Attending a one day Manual Handling Course is compulsory to this role Making sure I am safe at all times Driving my mobility car when we go out Taking me to the local shops – Merthyr, Llantrisant, Pontypridd Going out for a cuppa or meal Sometimes you’ll keep me company in the home Help me to explore different social opportunities which exist locally Making a snack or cup of tea. Supporting me to transfer from my wheelchair into the car and vice versa TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED A friendly, chatty person. A patient person Someone who can work in the mornings as this is my preferred time to go out Someone who won’t mind my smoking A good listener You must have a mature approach to life A full drivers licence which is clean (for mobility insurance purposes) A person who respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in someone’s home. An animal lover or at least you won’t mind animals being around in my home. A person who is able to take instruction to ensure my safety A good sense of humour is important Flexible – be able to change the days of work or work additional hours if required on occasion. ABOUT THE JOB This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period of 6 months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid by monthly BACS transfer by Dewis CIL. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check at no expense to you. You will have to attend any training which will benefit your role.
