I am a friendly person who enjoys the company of others (especially those I know). However, I am quite nervous around new people and am very private. I enjoy going out to the pub or for a coffee. I also enjoy watching sport and used to play rugby and cricket when I was younger. I like listening to the politics on the radio and enjoy music. I have been to many concerts; including Michael Jackson, David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen and Prince. I also enjoy listening to choral music and watching films such as Gladiator. I used to love to travel and have been to many different places. I have Huntington’s Disease but I do not like to talk about this. PURPOSE OF THE JOB I am looking for a Personal Assistant to assist me to regain some independence. I want someone who can accompany me to the pub or coffee shop and to ensure that I have a hot meal whilst I’m there. I want a PA who can support me but also allow me to be as independent as possible too. Someone who can be a bit of a buddy as well as being my PA. HOURS OF WORK I have 15 hours available. I need a PA who can work flexibly. There will be some flexibility but my hours will be used from late afternoon/early evening onwards. RATES OF PAY £9.40 per hour TASKS CAN INCLUDE Supporting me to go to the pub (for maybe a hot drink and a meal) Going to coffee shops Providing companionship Accompanying me to concerts or rugby games Assisting me to do banking and shopping Assistance with domestic chores (light housework, meal preparation etc.) TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Someone who is friendly and has a sense of humour Someone with a young outlook Car driver/owner essential Someone with similar interests would be preferred Care experience would be useful but not essential Understanding of Huntington’s Disease would be desirable but not essential Someone to join me in a singalong ABOUT THE JOB This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check (DBS) and training may be required if identified by the employer.
