Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

 I am a 56 year old lady living in the Llanharry area. I am an easy going lady who is mild tempered and easy to get along with. I have Alzheimer’s Disease which means that I require a little support to remain independent. Since my diagnosis I have become very active in the world of dementia. I facilitate an art group for people with dementia, as well attending conferences regularly and working with the Alzheimer’s Society when they do interviews etc. I enjoy crafty things such decoupage, cross-stitch and pottery. I also love my soaps and watching films (especially horror, biographies and thrillers). I enjoy art and cooking, elephants and Elvis.   

 

 

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

 

To support me to retain my independence, allowing my husband to have a break.

 

 

HOURS OF WORK

 

I have 11.15 hours per week, to be used on Wednesdays and Thursdays (hours during these days are flexible).

 

 

RATES OF PAY

£8.90 per hour plus mileage.

 

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

 

  • Assistance with personal care
  • Accompanying me to conferences or activities
  • Supporting me to go out for a coffee or shopping
  • Doing some cooking with me or baking

 

 

 TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

 

  • Car driver/owner
  • Someone who is happy to get involved/show an interest when we go to conferences or activities
  • Someone who is nice
  • Someone who will support rather than take over

 

 

 ABOUT THE JOB

This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four-weekly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living.  You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check (DBS) and training may be required if identified by the employer.
