Casual Personal Assistant 

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF 

I am a 79 year old man living in Ferndale. I was left disabled after an accident where I shattered my femur. I now use crutches for mobility. I am a happy-go-lucky man, who my son describes as ‘jovial’. I enjoy bingo and love watching TV (and will basically watch anything that’s on). I like to watch films and especially enjoy watching Westerns. I like to watch football and rugby. I can experience anxiety and need a little encouragement to get out and about.  

PURPOSE OF THE JOB 

I am looking for a casual Personal Assistant who can cover my other PA’s annual leave and sickness. 

HOURS OF WORK 

I have been allocated 18.25 hours per week (Mon, Tues, Wed and Fri 10am-2.30pm)  

RATES OF PAY  

£10 per hour 

TASKS CAN INCLUDE 

  • Assistance with light domestic work (changing bedding, cleaning etc.) 
  • Companionship and encouragement to go out and about 
  • Reminding me to take my medication 
  • Assisting me to apply cream to my legs 
  • Assistance with personal hygiene 
  • Assistance with food shopping 

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED 

  • Someone who can have a chat 
  • Someone who can encourage me 
  • Someone who can show initiative 
  • Someone who is comfortable speaking to my family about any concerns 
  • Car owner/driver preferred  

ABOUT THE JOB 

This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living.  You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check (DBS) and training may be required if identified by the employer.
