Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

 

I’m a woman in my late 60’s living in Tonypandy with my husband. I have epilepsy that causes seizures which makes me very anxious to go out in case I have a seizure in public. My legs can also easily become numb causing me to suddenly fall.

I have the tendency to neglect myself against my doctor’s advice. This has a detrimental effect on my mobility, emotional and physical health.

I describe myself as an independent and sociable person who enjoys word search puzzles and playing bingo.   

 

PLACE OF WORK

 

Your job will be in around the local community as well as in my home.

 

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

 

You will support me to retain my independence.  

 

HOURS OF WORK

 

9 hours per week, to be used flexibly, as and when needed

 

RATE OF PAY

 

£10.25 per hour

40p mileage allowance

 

TASKS INVOLVED

 

  • Assisting with domestic duties in my home, including decluttering the living areas and laundry
  • Occasionally taking me to hospital appointments and waiting with me
  • Going shopping and out for a coffee
  • Out for a meal to a local café
  • Assisting me to maintain an active social life
  • Going out for a game or two of bingo

 

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

 

  • An enthusiastic and friendly person is important
  • Good communication skills and patience is important
  • Very important that you are dependable and reliable
  • Someone who can confidently and easily build rapport me
  • Non-judgemental and understanding is essential
  • Experience with epilepsy and dealing with the associated fits will be extremely useful
  • Someone to boost my confidence and motivation to get involved with things to distract me away from alcohol
  • A driver who has access to a car

 

ABOUT THE JOB

 

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. I will be your legal employer. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living.  You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
