A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a man in my 80’s and have a diagnosis of Lewy body dementia. I am currently residing with my wife and daughter in North Wales. I am looking for a few PA’s to support me in my home in Tonyrefail, South Wales.

I was a keen sportsman with my main passions cricket and rugby both playing and watching Glamorgan in Cardiff as well as the four nations and I have been to Australia to watch the Ashes. I also enjoyed a competitive game of squash. In my working life I was responsible for developing one of the first computerised systems. Gardening was my passion with my “perfect” lawn and ripe tomatoes a speciality.  I enjoy sudoku, classical music and sing with a local choral society. I have enjoyed over many years attending concerts and fine dining with my wife; however, my appetite is not as it was!!

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The purpose of the job is for my wife and I to return home and to give me a better quality of life plus provide my wife with some respite.

HOURS OF WORK

2 nights sits per week – waking night 10:30pm to 8am

Likely to be worked during the weekend

7x1.5hour care calls per week, 10.00am to 11.30am

5x2 sits each afternoon per week 2:30pm to 4:30pm, there is some flexibility with these sits.

RATES OF PAY

£9.50 per hour

£100 per waking night

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

  • Support with my morning routine. Supervising, prompting and encouraging me to finish my breakfast and drink.
  • Personal care tasks
  • Help me get dressed
  • Ensure I have good oral hygiene
  • Prompt and remind me of my daily hygiene routine
  • Engage in activities during the afternoon allowing my wife to catch up on sleep
  • Support me with toileting at night times

  • Reliable and punctual
  • Patient, Considerate, caring, and trustworthy
  • Knowledge of how my conditions affects me

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period will be necessary in the first instance.  The wage will be paid monthly, and appropriate holiday pay given.

The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).
