DP1691 Personal assistant Please quote job ref DP1691 on application form. Apply Now Personal Assistant A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF I am a 92-year-old man living in Pontypridd. I am friendly and enjoy the company of others. I have been a member of Cor Meibion – Pontypridd male voice choir for over 50 years, and I enjoy all music. I also enjoy watching the television, particularly westerns and old films. I enjoy watching sport on tv especially rugby and snooker. I used to travel quite a bit, and really enjoyed going on cruises. PURPOSE OF JOB I have developed age related dementia, and due to being predominantly house bound (because of COVID-19) since March 2020, I tend to be quite unsteady on my feet, and I have lost a lot of fitness and confidence. I would like to try to regain some of my independence and would like someone to help encourage me try to get out shopping again and try to re-build some strength. I also need some help with personal and domestic tasks, and I sometimes need to be reminded to eat, drink and take medication. HOURS OF WORK I have 7 hours per week and would prefer to use these hours after 1pm between Tuesday and Friday. RATES OF PAY £10 per hour plus mileage for journeys we make together. TASKS INVOLVED Providing companionship. Taking me shopping. Reminding me to eat, drink, dress, take medication, attend medical appointments. Changing bed sheets. Light housework – domestic chores. Assistance with taking a shower. TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Somebody who is friendly, caring and has a good sense of humour. Someone who can be flexible. A car owner. A female preferred for personal care. Someone with a mature outlook. ABOUT THE JOB Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly and appropriate holiday pay given. The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority). The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK.
