Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a lady in my 40’s living in the Abercynon area with my mother and my brother lives next door. I have a very close and supportive family. I have Down Syndrome with associated Learning Disability. I like to participate in daily living activities and want to remain as independent as possible. I have a bubbly personality and I like to do girly things such as shopping, pampering and knitting. I also like artwork, music and food. I like to have a calendar to organise my time. I am a very sociable person and I like to be active.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

I am looking to employ a Personal Assistant to support me with undertaking activities in the home and out in the community.

HOURS OF WORK

16 hours per week

RATES OF PAY

£10.40 per hour with some mileage included

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

  • Ensuring all my needs are met
  • Keeping me safe at all times, I have little road safety awareness.
  • Take me shopping, swimming, to do arts and crafts, bowling and to the cinema.
  • Support me to attend any appointments in relation to my physical health and emotional wellbeing.

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

  • Reliable and punctual
  • Considerate, caring and trustworthy
  • Knowledge of how my conditions affects me
  • Someone with similar interests
  • Driver with own transport and business class insurance would be beneficial

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period will be necessary in the first instance.  The wage will be paid monthly and appropriate holiday pay given.

The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).
