I have cerebral palsy and use a wheelchair to get around. I also enjoy shopping, bowling, going to the pictures and playing football/driving games on my Xbox. I am a sociable person and enjoy being out meeting people. I have a friendly disposition and despite having some learning difficulties, I have no behavioural issues and am very easy to get along with. PURPOSE OF THE JOB The purpose of the job is for someone to support me to do social/educational activities out in the community. HOURS OF WORK There are 16 hours per week available. To be split over 3 shifts as follows – Monday and Thursday, I go to SEND Academy Friday is a leisure / shopping day RATE OF PAY £10.00 per hour TASKS CAN INCLUDE Driving my adapted mobility car (must be over 25 for insurance purposes) Personal Care Assisting me at food/meal times Ensuring my safety at all times Pushing my wheelchair Putting my wheelchair in and out of the car TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRE A person who: is friendly and approachable is dependable and arrives on time. Someone who respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in someone else’s home. Someone with a good sense of humour Someone who will be happy to work alongside the family Someone patient and understanding. Someone who is outgoing, energetic and likes to have fun Someone who is confident, has a mature attitude Someone who is flexible (very important as days and times of classes may change). Non-smoker preferred. ABOUT THE JOB Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A probationary period of 6 months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay.
