JOB DESCRIPTION

 Permanent, Part-time PA required

SOMETHING ABOUT ME                         

I am a young lady of 40 who has a moderate learning disability. I live in supported living in Tonyrefail. I am lively, presentable and sociable. I enjoy going out socialising, shopping and swimming. I attend adult classes during the week and require a PA to support me with this.

 

PLACE OF WORK

 

Going out and about in the community.

 

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

 

The purpose of the job is to help me to maintain my independence and to be involved in community activities. You should be willing to use your own car to take me about, for which mileage will be paid.

 

HOURS OF WORK

 8 hours per week, Mon and Tues evenings and every other Saturday

 RATE OF PAY

 

£9.00 per hour during your probationary period, possibly increasing to £9.30 thereafter

Mileage 40p per mile when I am in the car with you.      

 

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

 

  • Supporting me when I go out
  • Motivating me to do new things
  • Using your car to take me out (mileage paid)
  • Ensuring I am safe
  • Swimming, on occasion
  • Covering the duties of my other PAs when they’re on leave. This will include a more social aspect to the job.
  • Using the bus to get around, or walking to nearby places

 

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

 

  • Female preferred, but not essential, personal care not needed
  • Driver and car owner (essential)
  • Sense of humour and young at heart is essential
  • Someone who is fun, friendly, pleasant and good company
  • Dependable and arrives on time
  • Flexible
  • Positive approach to disabled people
  • Able to work on own initiative

 

ABOUT THE JOB

 

The above post is subject to an enhanced police (DBS) check and suitable references.

This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid two-weekly. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. Training may be required if identified by the employer.
