I am tetraplegic and live at home on my own. I use an electric wheelchair for getting around. I also have a visual impairment. I have good communication skills. I enjoy music and general knowledge quizzes and I am a keen amateur radio enthusiast. PLACE OF WORK My home and in the community PURPOSE OF THE JOB I wish to employ a personal assistant to provide me with support, assistance and company within my home and to also assist me when going out within the community. HOURS OF WORK Monday – 3 hours Tuesday – 3 hours 2 nights per week Some flexibility with the hours worked will be required. May be required to provide cover for other PA’s at times. RATE OF PAY £8.83 per hour Weekdays £9.50 per hour Weekends TASKS CAN INCLUDE Assistance with transfers between bed and chair using a hoist Assistance with personal care which will involve washing, dressing and showering Domestic Duties - Laundry, washing, ironing etc. Assistance with the running of the home, paying bills and answering correspondence Assistance with preparing meals Assistance with eating Assistance with drinks Assistance with bedtime preparations Helping me with my radio Keeping me company Emptying my bag Help with my asthma pump occasionally Taking me out and driving my car TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Experience useful though training will be given Friendly and good company Good sense of humour Flexible Reliable Positive approach to disabled people Able to work on own initiative Respectful of other peoples homes and property Holds a full driving licence Manual Handling training an advantage ABOUT THE JOB I will be your legal employer so you will need a National Insurance number. Pay will be fortnightly and appropriate paid annual leave is given. There will be trial period involved and a police check will be arranged.
