DP371 Personal assistant Please quote job reference DP371 on application. Apply now JOB DESCRIPTION Personal Assistant A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF I am an active 34-year-old lady with a visual impairment. My parents live in Gilfach Goch and I visit regularly on a weekend, nearly always on a weekend when I go to church. I enjoy keeping fit by swimming, walking my guide dog, visiting the Gym and ice-skating. I also enjoy visits to the cinema and theatre. PURPOSE OF THE JOB I am looking to employ at least one support assistant to provide me with support at home and when I go out socially. This will help me live as independently as possible in my own home. HOURS OF WORK There are 10 hours a week available There will be some flexibility but the hours will be mainly worked Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and possibly a couple of hours on a Saturday. Please note on the application forms the days and times you would be available to work. RATES OF PAY £9.90 per hour Plus 40p per mile will be paid for each journey we make together. TASKS CAN INCLUDE Assisting me at home with domestic task such as laundry, general cleaning. Assistance with food preparation. Cleaning up the garden after my dog. Supporting me when I take my dog for a walk. Supporting me when out shopping for food, clothes etc. Supporting me at the gym, ice skating or swimming. Making sure I am safe at all times. Taking and collecting me from my parents at Gilfach Goch and when I attend Church. Accompanying me to appointments. Helping with paperwork. TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Someone who is punctual, dependable, trustworthy and flexible. A cheerful person with a positive and bright outlook. Must like dogs. A car owner who is insured for business usage and would be willing to use for work and transporting my guide dog (mileage will be paid). Preferable someone who would participate in my activities. Although not essential a knowledge of visual impairment would be helpful. Someone willing to attend training courses that would be beneficial to the post. ABOUT THE JOB Although this is a part-time job, it will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The salary will be paid on a four weekly basis and appropriate holiday pay given. The post is subject to a probationary period and a DBS (Police) Check.
