My sister also requires additional support from a Personal Assistant and is in receipt of Direct Payments. I have a visual impairment and am registered blind. I am a social chatty young man with a soft natured, easy going personality. I love playing with cars, bikes and fire-engines but also love playing football and am open to trying new things. PURPOSE OF JOB My mum is looking to employ a Personal Assistant to get me out and about, getting involved in community activities; and allowing my mother some respite. It is hoped that the time we spend together will enable me to develop my independence, confidence and life skills. PLACE OF WORK Mainly out in the community. HOURS OF WORK Weekday evenings and weekends. 4 hours weekly available The hours are flexible at the moment but may be set once activities are planned. RATE OF PAY £10.00 per hour TASKS INVOLVED Taking me on visits to parks and playgrounds, animal/nature sanctuaries Accompanying me to local groups such as cubs/beavers. Playing football with me and encouraging me to be active. Taking me to soft play or playing games on rainy days. Allowing my mother some respite by sitting with me in the home You will be expected to ensure my wellbeing and personal safety at all times by reinforcing road safety and stranger danger messages to me. TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Someone sporty or who enjoys being active. A friendly, caring nature. Someone who respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in someone else’s home. Trustworthy, reliable and punctual. Someone with a flexible approach to work as hours may change according to the activities we do together. ABOUT THE JOB Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
