JOB DESCRIPTION

Part-time Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a disabled boy, 17 years old, living in the Cwmaman area of Rhondda Cynon Taf with my parents.

I have Autism and ADHD and this affects many aspects of my life.

I can communicate quite well once I get to know someone, but I need people to be patient to allow me to explain myself properly.  I find it easier to understand when people use simplified terms to explain things to me.

I enjoy going scuba diving, bowling, computer games and going to the cinema. I would also like to start going to the gym.  I have limited spatial awareness which means I might need prompting at times to ensure my safety and wellbeing.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

My parents are looking to employ a personal assistant to take me out socially.

This will enable me to socialise independently of my family and for me to improve my social skills such as catching the bus and money management.

I am keen to try new activities and to eventually build new friendships. It is important that I am motivated and encouraged to participate in different things.

HOURS OF WORK

There are 5 hrs per week available - will mostly be used on the weekend but some flexibility is required for the possibility of weekday evenings.

RATE OF PAY

£9.50 per hour

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

  • Taking me out to places of interest such as going to the gym, swimming, bowling, cinema etc
  • Helping me to build my confidence in social aspects such as shopping

ABOUT THE JOB

Although this is a part-time job, it will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The salary will be paid on a calendar monthly basis and appropriate holiday pay given.

The post is subject to a probationary period, references, completion of Child Protection Training and a DBS (Police) Check.
