Part-time Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

 I am a 13 year old girl and I live in the Porth area of Rhondda Cynon Taff with my parents and baby brother.

 

I have learning difficulties and a diagnosis of being on the autistic spectrum and have a lot of energy.

 

Despite my disability I am verbal and mobile, very sociable and lots of fun to play with.

 

My interests are playing with lego, swings, trampoline, play doh, painting/drawing and other arts and crafts, swimming, soft play and being out and about.

 

 PURPOSE OF THE JOB

 

My parents are looking to employ a Personal Assistant to provide me with one to one support which will include preparing snacks and meals, taking me out socially and providing a sitting service

.HOURS OF WORK

There are approx. 20 hours every 4 weeks available. Your working hours will be arranged by agreement each week. There will be extra hours during school holidays available.

 

RATE OF PAY

 

£ 9.00 per hour

£0.40 per mile

  

ABOUT THE JOB

 

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay.

 

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

 

Social Hours:

  • PA’s will need their own car as if my parents are working I may need to be collected from school or met off the school transport at our house.
  • Trips to places that I enjoy, i.e. cinema, park, swimming
  • Stimulating play at home.

 

Personal Care:

  • I can toilet myself but will need prompts/reminders to use the toilet and wash my hands.
  • I can feed myself but needs reminders/prompts to eat and drink.

 

Other:

  • Sitting service/respite care
  • Preparing meals and snacks

 

 

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

 

  • A person who is dependable and arrives on time.
  • A person who respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in someone else’s home.
  • Someone with a good sense of humour.
  • Someone who is outgoing, energetic and likes to have fun
  • Someone who is confident, mature and has patience
  • Someone who is flexible (very important)
  • Experience is essential in working with children.

TRAINING

 

The position is subject to references and an enhanced police check. You will also be required to attend a Child Abuse Awareness course and any other relevant courses that are appropriate to this position. You will also receive instruction from my parents.
