    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Part-Time Personal Assistant

    A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

    I am a 6 year old boy living in Brynna with my mum, big brother & a very friendly Labrador.

    I have Cerebral Palsy, absence epilepsy & other medical needs.  When I am around the home I wear dafo splints and can walk around, but I use a wheelchair or walking frame when out & about.

    I am very outgoing & loads of fun, I love being outdoors and as a family we have a really active social life.

    My dietary requirements are met with a gastric feeding tube delivered by a feeding pump.  This is used at regular intervals during the day and night to meet my nutritional needs.  I also eat pureed foods, my safe bite & dissolve foods & thickened drinks.

    One of my favourite things is toy vacuum cleaners; I have numerous brands & love to help with cleaning around the house.  I am active & busy & constantly on the go.  I love music, especially Christmas songs which I enjoy on my ipad.

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    To enable me to join in with community activities, enjoy time out of the house & to enable my mum to spend time with my big brother.  You will sometimes accompany us on family trips.

    TASKS WILL INCLUDE

    • Assisting with my personal care
    • Taking me out in my wheelchair
    • Spending time in my home to enable my mum to go out without me
    • Playing games & activities with me in my home, joining in family activities
    • Feeding me as required & following my healthcare plan

    HOURS OF WORK

    I have 4 hours per week available.  Usually 1 evening after school from 4pm & the occasional weekend session.  In the school holidays the hours may be used to cover a longer day out.

    You will be given notice of your hours in advance

    RATES OF PAY

    • £9.50 per hour
    • 0.35p per mile when taking me out in your own vehicle

    TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

    • Mature attitude
    • Someone friendly & caring, flexible & reliable, confident, enjoys playing, positive & upbeat, non smoker essential.
    • Needs to be confident using my equipment.
    • Willing to undertake any training required which must include Child Protection
    • A full DBS check will be carried out by Dewis Centre for Independent Living.
    • Full Driving Licence required + business insurance.

    ABOUT THE JOB

    Though a part time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A Trial period will be necessary in the first instance of 6 months.

     

    The wage will be paid four weekly on return of a payslip provided by Dewis Centre for Independent Living. You will be paid by bank transfer by the employer. You will receive appropriate annual leave.
