I have severe developmental delay and have some challenging behaviours. I enjoy the outdoors, different activities and keeping busy. I am looking for at least two personal assistants. This is to support me, taking me to activities, ensuring my safety at all times and managing my challenging behaviour. I need support to assist me to explore my local area. I am energetic and enjoy playing with my ball and for people participate in the activities with me. PURPOSE OF THE JOB To support me to do social activities in the local community and at home encouraging with life skills. This will enable my parents to have some respite and to ensure my needs are met. HOURS OF WORK Minimum of 2 PAs required 32 hours a week Flexibility is essential, hours will vary depending on term time and school holidays. Successful PAs must be prepared to work daytime and late afternoons. RATE OF PAY £ 9.00 per hour TASKS CAN INCLUDE Supporting me to do activities and helping me plan for them Helping me to engage with the local community Supporting me in social situations Ensuring my safety at all times Managing my challenging behaviour Managing my epilepsy (training provided) TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Someone who will encourage me to do things and help me plan for trips To be pro-active in suggesting activities that I could take part in Flexibility and reliability will be essential Someone who understands and can manage challenging behaviours Someone who knows the local area well (essential) and how to access activities ABOUT THE JOB Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. The post is subject to a satisfactory reference, a Right to Work in the UK and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer. Attending a Safeguarding Children training course is also compulsory for this post.
