Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a 6 year old boy living in Treherbert with my family.

I have a rare genetic condition called CHARGE Syndrome which restricts me to what I can do.

I am peg fed via a gastrostomy and at times I need oral suction via a small suction machine as I occasionally get secretions which I unable to manage by myself. 

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

My mum is looking to employ a person to support us with our morning routine.  This will involve getting me dressed, changing my nappy.

HOURS OF WORK

There are 5 hours a week available, to be worked 1 hour per morning Monday - Friday.

RATE OF PAY

£9.00 per hour

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

Getting me dressed ready for School

Changing my nappy

Helping me to have a bath, when required

Playing with me and making sure I am clean and tidy

Supporting me and my mum with our morning routines, doing small tasks as required.

Taking me to school

PLEASE NOTE: At present your role will not include supporting me with peg feeding and oral suction but it is likely this will be added to the duties in the near future. Full training will be provided if you do need to take on this duty.

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

A successful candidate for this position would need to be as follows:

  • Punctual – Turn up on time and must be sure to let us know in advance if running late for any reason.
  • Responsible – Someone we can trust.
  • Experience of dealing with children.
  • Trustworthy.
  • Friendly.
  • Someone who is willing to undertake the peg-feeding and oral suction if it is required in the future.

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period of 6 months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living.  You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay.
