A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF 

 

am a 7-year-old boy with autism, living in Llanharry with my family.   I am non- verbal, and not able to communicate fully or use the toilet at the moment. I have trouble regulating my behaviour and have rather acute sensory issues. I love to trampoline, go to parks, and watch TV.  I like to be around other people.  Noises and busy places do not bother me at all. 

 

PURPOSE OF THE JOB 

 

My parents are looking to employ two personal assistants who will work together 2:1. This will be to come with me to activities such as trampolining, play centres, trips to the park or even just to stay in my house and enjoy playing in the garden. 

 

HOURS OF WORK 

 

There are 3 hours per week available for each personal assistant working 2:1. 

 

These hours will be worked flexibly to suit my needs but will generally be worked after school and weekdays in school holidays.   

 

 

RATES OF PAY 

 

£9.50 per hour 

 

Plus Mileage Allowance  

 

 

TASKS CAN INCLUDE 

 

  • Taking me to the park 
  • Taking me to play centres 
  • Ensuring I am always safe and never taking your eyes off me 
  • Playing with me and keeping me entertained 
  • Encouragement with my self-help skills 
  • Taking me trampolining 

 

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED 

 

  • Experience of working with autistic children 
  • Someone who is active and able to keep up with me 
  • Someone who will be sensitive to my needs 
  • Someone who will be reliable as I like routine 
  • A driver with access to own vehicle is essential 
  • Someone who will engage, encourage, and play with me 

 

ABOUT THE JOB 

 

Although this is a part-time job, it will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The salary will be paid on a calendar monthly basis and appropriate holiday pay given. 

 

The post is subject to a probationary period and a DBS (Police) Check and right to work in the UK checks.
